Our gents' kilts are woven in Scotland using 8 yards of wool.

The Black Watch tartan dates back as far as 1725 when King George I implemented a group of six companies that collectively served as something like Scotland's first police force. It was asked that all six companies wear similar tartans, and the result was the Black Watch tartan.

Black Watch is now considered a universal tartan, acceptable for anyone to wear, regardless of lineage.

With that said, the Black Watch tartan is the Campbell tartan, and it's the hunting tartan of clans Grant & Munro. These families were closely involved with the original Black Watch companies.

Length:

• All of the kilts we carry are 24 inches in length. If you would prefer a tailored length, you might be interested in a  at no additional charge. 

Waist:

• To measure your kilt waist, use a tape measure at the top of your hip bone. Measure snugly but not too tightly.
• A kilt worn at the traditional waistline right above or around the navel will usually be 2 - 4 inches larger than your regular waist size.
• Pick the next size down if you are between sizes. Kilts can extend several extra inches.

Seat/Hips:

• Our stock kilts have seat measurements 8 inches larger than the waist size you choose. This is a standard that should be fine for most customers, but  are available for anyone who would prefer a tailored seat.
